\nMajor investigated questions: the first part of the survey started by investigating respondents' involvement in performing arts activities and events during the past 12 months. A block of questions was used to ask whether they had participated in any amateur or professional activities in their spare time (Acted in a theatre performance; Directed a theatre performance; 8 in total). Next, respondents' social participation and volunteering in performing arts activities were investigated (Volunteered (for performing arts) in your workplace, group, or ensemble; 3 in total). The idea was to discover if they attended events, including festivals and other events in Lithuania or abroad (Theatre performance; Literary readings, book presentations; 17 in total). Further inquiries were made about how often they watched live streaming of events outside their home (e.g., outdoors, in a cinema, public library or other venue) (Theatre performance; Literary readings, Book presentations; 16 in total) or listened to recordings of events (Theatre performance; 16 in total). Respondents' views on changes in the availability, accessibility, and quality of performing arts events were surveyed, and the change in quality during the past year was assessed. Another part of the survey explored respondents' involvement in architecture, visual arts, and craft activities and events during the past 12 months. A block of questions was used to ask whether the respondents were involved in any of the following activities in their free time (Drawing, painting, printmaking (handmade); Taking artistic photographs (not including family or holiday photos); 7 in total). Further, respondents' social participation and volunteering in architecture, visual art and crafts activities (Member of a society, club or group of amateur artists or craftspeople; Volunteered in this society, club, or group; 5 in total) and usage (Visited exhibitions of paintings and prints, photographs, sculptures, handicrafts; Visited virtual exhibitions of visual arts or crafts; 4 in total) were also investigated. Respondents' views on changes in the availability, accessibility, and quality of fine arts and crafts exhibitions were surveyed, and the change in the quality of the exhibitions in the last year was assessed. The survey further explored respondents' involvement in heritage-related activities in the 12 months. A block of questions was used to ask whether they had engaged in any of the following activities in their spare time (Collected objects; Searched the archives and/or the internet for genealogical or historical records; 3 in total). Further, respondents' social participation and volunteering in heritage-related activities (participated in a cultural society, club or community; 2 in total) and use (Visited a museum; Visited galleries or exhibitions; 4 in total). Furthermore, they were asked which museums, galleries, or exhibitions they had visited in Lithuania and abroad (Art; History and Archaeology; 8 in total). The survey also asked Lithuanians to indicate which cultural heritage sites: monuments, buildings, or places they had visited in Lithuania and abroad (Historical sites; Ancient, famous buildings; 6 in total). The second part of the survey explored respondents' involvement in archives activities and events during the past 12 months. A block of questions asked whether they had engaged in any of the activities in their free time (Visited, contacted an archive in Lithuania; Searched for archive records (information) on the Internet on Lithuanian archive portals; 11 in total). It also explored respondents' views on whether there has been a change in the accessibility and quality of physical archives and online archives services, as well as museums, cultural monuments, and archaeological sites, and assessed the change in quality over the last year. The survey also asked whether the protection of cultural heritage has improved. Another part of the survey explored respondents' involvement in book and print-related activities in the last 12 months. A block of questions asked whether they had engaged in any of the activities in their spare time (Wrote fiction or non-fiction in your spare time; 2 in total). Next, respondents' social participation and volunteering in activities related to books and the press were investigated (Were a member of an (amateur) writers' or journalists' society, club or group; Attended (creative) writing courses, classes; 7 in total). The survey asked respondents approximately how many books they have at home. A block of questions asked whether they read a printed or a digital book in their free time. Next, respondents were asked how many books they had read in the last 12 months and how many of these were fiction books written in Lithuanian. It was also asked which genres of literature the respondents had read (Fiction (novels, novellas, etc.); 7 in total). A block of questions was used to investigate the reading of magazines/periodicals and newspapers (Read printed magazines and/or periodicals in your free time; 4 in total). This part of the survey concluded with an examination of respondents' views on whether the availability and quality of books and periodicals had changed over the past year. It further explored respondents' involvement in activities related to public libraries in the last 12 months. A block of questions asked whether they did any of the following activities in their spare time (Visited a public library in Lithuania; Borrowed books; 6 in total). Next, respondents' social participation and volunteering in activities related to public libraries were investigated (Donated books to a public library; Volunteered in a public library; 3 in total). Respondents' opinions on whether the accessibility and quality of public library services have changed over the last year were explored. Another part of the survey explored respondents' involvement in activities related to film or video in the last 12 months. It asked whether they had made at least one film or video as an artistic hobby (not including family or holiday films). Respondents' social participation and volunteering in film or video-related activities were also examined (Member of a society, club or group where films, videos, including music videos, are produced; Attended film or video making courses, classes; 5 in total). Another block of questions was asked to assess the use of films and videos (Attended a cinema or film festival; Downloaded films from the internet or watched them online; 4 in total). It also explored respondents' views on whether the availability and quality of films had changed over the last year. Another part of the survey explored respondents' involvement in radio, TV and internet-related activities in the last 12 months. The aim was to find out how much time they spend listening to the radio, listening to online radio, watching TV, watching online TV and using the internet in their leisure time during the working day and at the weekend. They were asked whether they had created anything online as a hobby - i.e. a website, a game, a blog. They were also asked to indicate how much time they spend on average on a typical day of the week on social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter. Towards the end of the survey, it was asked what were the main barriers that prevented respondents from joining, participating, or volunteering in cultural activities in the last 12 months (I am not interested, I have other interests; Lack of time; 11 in total). Next, they were asked whether they are a citizen of Lithuania and whether they are proud of it. In addition, they were asked whether they had been happy or unhappy in the last 12 months and whether their physical, emotional and mental health was good or bad. They were asked whether they had voted in the 2016 Seimas elections and, if they were religious, which faith they professed. They were asked how often they went to a house of worship or religious meetings in the last 12 months, excluding weddings, funerals and christenings They were asked to give important reasons why they participate/participated in cultural activities and volunteer(s) (People you know well participate/volunteer now or in the past; 6 in total). The questionnaire ended by asking whether people in general can be trusted, whether one should be cautious and whether the respondents are members of any social organisation, movement, society, or club. \n
\nSocio-demographic characteristics: Gender, place of residence, county, size of area of residence, age, nationality, education, occupation, position, marital status, household size, number of 14 years old children, average monthly income per family member.\n

\nThe survey on people's participation in culture and satisfaction with cultural services is based on the European Statistical System Network on Culture (ESSnet-Culture) methodology for participation in culture, complemented by themes relevant to monitoring Lithuanian culture consumption. In 2012, the ESSnet-Culture methodology was proposed by the EU Council for Education, Youth, Culture and Sport as a basis for the harmonisation of cultural statistical systems and methodologies for \nIn the first stage, layers are distinguished based on the type of residential area - major cities, district centres, small towns, and villages. The selection process is geographically divided into 15 groups (5 for major cities separately and 10 for counties), and a separate selection of areas is carried out in each county. Following the principle of random selection using data from the Population Register Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, primary sampling units (PSU) are chosen - household addresses. A total of 162 PSU (addresses) were chosen from the database.\n
\nIn the second stage, starting from these PSU and applying routine selection rules (visiting every third apartment in the city or every second house in the village), households are selected. Between 4 to 10 households are selected at each selection unit.\n

Norėta sužinoti, ar lankėsi renginiuose, įskaitant festivalius ir kitus renginius Lietuvoje arba užsienyje (Teatro spektaklyje; Literatūriniuose skaitymuose, knygų pristatymuose; iš viso 17). Toliau aiškintasi, kaip dažnai žiūrėjo tiesioginę renginių transliaciją ne namuose (pvz., lauke, kino salėje, viešojoje bibliotekoje ar kitoje vietoje) (Teatro spektaklį; Literatūrinius skaitymus, knygų pristatymus; iš viso 16) ar klausėsi renginių įrašų (Teatro spektaklio; iš viso 16). Tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė scenos meno renginių prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Kitoje apklausos dalyje tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į architektūros, vaizduojamųjų menų ir amatų veiklas ir renginius per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Pateikus klausimų bloką, klausta, ar laisvalaikiu jie užsiėmė kuria nors iš veiklų (Piešėte, tapėte paveikslus, kūrėte grafikos darbus (ranka); Darėte menines fotografijas (neįskaitant šeimos ar atostogų nuotraukų); iš viso 7). Toliau tirtas respondentų socialinis dalyvavimas bei savanoriavimas architektūros, vaizduojamųjų menų ir amatų veiklose (Buvote mėgėjų menininkų ar amatininkų draugijos, klubo arba grupės narys; Dirbote savanorišką darbą šioje draugijoje, klube ar grupėje; iš viso 5) bei naudojimasis (Lankėtės tapybos ir grafikos darbų, fotografijų, skulptūrų, amatininkų dirbinių parodose; Lankėtės virtualiose vaizduojamojo meno ar amatų parodose; iš viso 4). Tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė vaizduojamojo meno bei amatų parodų prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Toliau apklausos metu tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į veiklas, susijusias su paveldu per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Pateikus klausimų bloką, klausta, ar laisvalaikiu jie užsiėmė kuria nors iš veiklų (Kolekcionavote daiktus; Ieškojote archyvuose ir / arba internete genealoginių ar istorinių įrašų; iš viso 3). Toliau tirtas respondentų socialinis dalyvavimas bei savanoriavimas veiklose, susijusiose su paveldu (Buvote kultūros draugijos, klubo arba grupės narys; iš viso 2) bei naudojimasis (Lankėtės muziejuje; Lankėtės galerijose ar parodose; iš viso 4). Toliau norėta sužinoti, kokiuose muziejuose, galerijose ar parodose respondentai lankėsi Lietuvoje ir užsienyje (Meno; Istorijos ir archeologijos; iš viso 8). Taip pat apklausoje dalyvavusių Lietuvos gyventojų prašyta atsakyti, kokius kultūros paveldo objektus: paminklus, pastatus ar vietas lankė, apžiūrėjo Lietuvoje ir užsienyje (Istorines vietas; Senovinius, įžymius pastatus; iš viso 6). Kitoje apklausos dalyje tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į archyvų veiklas ir jų renginius per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Pateikus klausimų bloką, klausta, ar laisvalaikiu jie užsiėmė kuria nors iš veiklų (Lankėtės, kreipėtės į archyvą Lietuvoje; Ieškojote archyvų įrašų (informacijos) internete Lietuvos archyvų portaluose; iš viso 11). Taip pat tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė fizinių archyvų ir archyvų internete paslaugų bei muziejų, kultūros paminklų, archeologinių vietų prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Be to, apklausos metu prašyta atsakyti, ar pagerėjo kultūros paveldo apsauga. Dar vienoje apklausos dalyje tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į veiklas, susijusias su knygomis ir spauda per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Pateikus klausimų bloką, klausta, ar laisvalaikiu jie užsiėmė kuria nors iš veiklų (Kūrėte grožinę ar negrožinę literatūrą laisvalaikiu; iš viso 2). Toliau tirtas respondentų socialinis dalyvavimas bei savanoriavimas veiklose, susijusiose su knygomis ir spauda (Buvote (mėgėjų) rašytojų arba žurnalistų draugijos, klubo arba grupės narys; Lankėte (kūrybinio) rašymo kursus, pamokas; iš viso 7). Apklausoje dalyvavusiems Lietuvos gyventojams buvo užduotas klausimas, kiek apytiksliai knygų jie turi namuose. Pateikus klausimų bloką, aiškintasi, ar laisvalaikiu skaitė spausdintą knygą arba knygą skaitmeniniame formate. Toliau respondentų prašyta atsakyti, kiek knygų perskaitė per pastaruosius 12 mėn. bei kiek iš jų buvo lietuvių kalba parašytų grožinės literatūros knygų. Aiškintasi, kokių literatūros žanrų knygas respondentai skaitė (Grožines (romanus, noveles ir pan.); iš viso 7). Pateikus klausimų bloką, tirtas žurnalų (periodinių leidinių) ir laikraščių skaitymas (Laisvalaikiu skaitėte spausdintus žurnalus ir / ar periodinius leidinius; iš viso 4). Šios apklausos dalies pabaigoje tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė knygų ir periodinių leidinių prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Toliau tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į veiklas, susijusias su viešosiomis bibliotekomis per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Pateikus klausimų bloką, klausta, ar laisvalaikiu jie užsiėmė kuria nors iš veiklų (Lankėtės viešojoje bibliotekoje Lietuvoje; Ėmėte knygas; iš viso 6). Toliau tirtas respondentų socialinis dalyvavimas bei savanoriavimas veiklose, susijusiose su viešosiomis bibliotekomis (Dovanojote knygas viešajai bibliotekai; Dirbote savanorišką darbą viešojoje bibliotekoje; iš viso 3). Tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė viešųjų bibliotekų paslaugų prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Dar vienoje apklausos dalyje tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į veiklas, susijusias su filmais ar video per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Aiškintasi, ar sukūrė nors vieną filmą ar video vedini meninio pomėgio (neįskaitant šeimos ar atostogų filmavimų). Taip pat tirtas respondentų socialinis dalyvavimas bei savanoriavimas veiklose, susijusiose su filmais ar video (Buvote draugijos, klubo arba grupės, kurioje gaminami filmai, video, įskaitant vaizdo klipus, narys; Lankėte filmų ar video filmavimo kursus, pamokas; iš viso 5). Pateikus dar vieną klausimų bloką, norėta įvertinti naudojimąsi filmais ir video (Lankėtės kine ar kino festivalyje; siuntėtės filmus iš interneto ar žiūrėjote online; iš viso 4). Taip pat tirta respondentų nuomonė, ar pasikeitė kino filmų prieinamumas bei kokybė per pastaruosius metus. Kitoje apklausos dalyje tirtas respondentų įsitraukimas į veiklas, susijusias su radiju, televizija ir internetu per pastaruosius 12 mėn. Norėta sužinoti, kiek laiko darbo ir savaitgalio dieną jie klauso radijo, radijo transliacijų internete, žiūri televizorių, žiūri TV transliacijas internete bei laisvalaikiu naudoja internetą. Aiškintasi, ar vedini pomėgio ką nors sukūrė internete – t. y., internetinį puslapį, žaidimą, blogą. Taip pat prašyta nurodyti, kiek laiko vidutiniškai įprastą savaitės dieną praleidžia socialiniuose tinkluose, tokiuose kaip Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter. Apklausai artėjant į pabaigą, aiškintasi, kokios buvo pagrindinės kliūtys trikdžiusios respondentams įsilieti į kultūrinį gyvenimą, dalyvauti kultūrinėje veikloje arba joje savanoriauti per pastaruosius 12 mėn. (Man neįdomu, turiu kitokių interesų; Trūksta laiko; iš viso 11). Toliau prašyta atsakyti, ar yra Lietuvos piliečiais bei ar tuo didžiuojasi. Be to, norėta sužinoti, ar per pastaruosius 12 mėn. apklausoje dalyvavę Lietuvos gyventojai buvo laimingi ar nelaimingi bei ar jų fizinė bei emocinė ir dvasinė sveikata buvo gera ar bloga. Aiškintasi, ar balsavo 2016 m. rinkimuose į Seimą bei jei yra tikintis, kurį tikėjimą išpažįsta. Klausta, kaip dažnai per pastaruosius 12 mėn. ėjo į maldos namus arba religinius susirinkimus, neskaitant vestuvių, laidotuvių ir krikštynų. Prašyta nurodyti svarbias priežastis, kodėl dalyvauja (dalyvavo) kultūrinėse veiklose ir savanoriauja (savanoriavo) (Dalyvauja (-vavo) Jums gerai pažįstami žmonės; iš viso 6). Apklausos pabaigoje buvo užduotas klausimas, ar apskritai žmonėmis galima pasitikėti, ar reikia būti atsargiam bei ar respondentai yra kokios nors visuomeninės organizacijos, judėjimo, draugijos ar klubo nariais.\n

\nPirmoje pakopoje pagal gyvenamosios vietovės tipą išskiriamos sluoksniai – didieji miestai, rajonų centrai, miesteliai ir kaimai. Atranka suskirstoma geografiškai į 15 grupių (5 didieji miestai atskirai ir 10 apskričių) ir kiekvieno je apskrityje atskirai yra vykdoma vietovių atranka. Iš Gyventojų registro tarnybos prie Vidaus reikalų ministerijos duomenų bazės laikantis atsitiktinės tikimybinės atrankos principo yra atrenkami pirminiai atrankos taškai – namų ūkių adresai. Iš viso buvo atrinkti 162 pirminiai atrankos taškai (adresai).\n
\nAntroje pakopoje pradedant nuo pirminio atrankos taško ir taikant maršrutinės atrankos taisykles (aplankomas kas trečias butas mieste arba kas antras namas kaime) atrenkamas namų ūkis. Kiekviename atrankos punkte atrenkama nuo 4 iki 10 namų ūkių.\n
