The dataset was compiled by the survey's conducting organisation, Baltijos tyrimai UAB, and organised by the EVS National Coordinator in Lithuania and the Lithuanian HSM Data Archive (LiDA). The European Social Survey (ESS) is a multi-country survey initiated by researchers, which has already been conducted in more than 30 different European countries. There are three main objectives of the survey: To capture and interpret the changing attitudes and values of European societies and to observe how they interact with the changing European institutions; To develop and improve advanced methods for conducting cross-cultural surveys in Europe and around the globe; To develop a collection of European social indicators, including attitudinal indicators. The eighth wave of the survey was carried out in 23 countries using highly rigorous survey methodologies. The survey was funded by the national authorities in each individual country conducting the fieldwork. It was carried out using purely random probability sampling principles, aiming for 70% reversibility and using strictly defined protocols for the translation of surveys. In a one-hour face-to-face interview, respondents answered regular questions from the main survey, which are repeated in each wave, as well as questions prepared by different research teams for each wave. Wave 8 includes two alternating blocks of questions on "Attitudes towards climate change, energy security and energy priorities" and "Attitudes towards social well-being". In the end, respondents answered a supplementary survey covering the human values block. This dataset was created using version 2.0 of the integrated data file of countries participating in the ESS Round 8 (Lithuanian data) published in the ESS Data Archive on 2018-05-30.</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="lt-LT">Santrauka: Šiame duomenų rinkinyje pateikiami Europos socialinio tyrimo 8 bangos vykdytos Lietuvoje pagrindinio ir papildomo klausimyno duomenys. Šiam duomenų rinkiniui sukurti naudota EST 8-oje bangoje dalyvavusių šalių jungtinio duomenų failo 2.0 versija (Lietuvos duomenys) publikuota EST Duomenų archyve 2018-05-30.</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="en-US">General notes: The main language of the study is Lithuanian (lit). Sampling Design: 2-domain design. 1stSampling Domain: The 54 settlements (7 biggest cities and other towns including suburbs) that have a total population of 5 000 or more, (that is 65.11% of the population aged 15 and over). Sampling Design: 3-stage design: At the first stage address are selected by a stratified sampled. The stratification is based on the 7 biggest cities with a population larger than 40 000 and the 10 counties of Lithuania. The selection within the strata is done by a simple random sampling. At the second stage one household is selected, where necessary, from each sampled address with equal probability using a Kish Grid. In practice, there was only one sampled address where this was necessary. At the third stage, one person is selected from each sampled household using the last birthday method. 2ndSampling Domain: The rest of settlements that include small towns and villages. Sampling Design: 4-stage design: At the first stage, 167 Elderships, the smallest local administrative units (LAU2 – Eurostat, with a known population aged 15 and over) are selected by a stratified sample. The stratification is based on counties. The selection within the strata is done with probability proportional to the population aged 15+ in the Elderships. At the second stage 8 addresses are selected from each sampled Eldership by a simple random sample. At third stage one household is selected, where necessary, from each sampled address with equal probability using a Kish Grid. There was only one sampled address where this was necessary.
