Human Rights in Lithuania, November 2008https://hdl.handle.net/21.12137/W4KDZIHuman Rights Monitoring InstituteLithuanian Data Archive for SSH (LiDA)2025-12-232026-03-05T07:55:59Z<b><i> The purpose of the study</i></b>: to analyze the Lithuanian system for the protection of human rights, identify how people protect violated (abused) rights and how they assess effectiveness of various institutions assuring the human rights. <br><b><i>Major investigated questions</i></b>: respondents were asked whether the information about human rights is sufficient and whether they know where to appeal if human rights are violated. They were also asked whether they experienced the violation of human rights by themselves during recent years and whether they appealed because of violation of human rights. Those respondents, who did not appeal, were asked why did not appeal, and those who appealed, were asked where they tried to defend their violated rights. Respondents were asked who determines whether a person is guilty for doing a crime and to identify which certain actions violate human rights. It was also examined what social group is discriminated in Lithuania the most.
