<b><i> The purpose of the study</i></b>: is to find out Lithuanians' attitudes towards the European Union and their awareness about the integration of Lithuanian into this international organization. <br><b><i>Major investigated questions</i></b>: respondents were asked how they would vote in a referendum on Lithuania's accession to the EU and when it would be particularly relevant for Lithuania to join the EU. They were also asked how the integration into the EU would affect the development of Lithuanian economy and what would be personally relevant consequences to the respondents of this process. Respondents asked whether information about Lithuania's accession to the EU is sufficient and what the explanations of Lithuania's accession to the EU would be appropriate. They were also asked about the people of whom a knowledge about Lithuania's accession to the EU are trusted most and about channels and the people from which the respondents got most information about Lithuania's accession to the EU. Respondents were also asked to indicate where they would primarily seek information about Lithuania's accession to the EU, and whether they constantly track information related to Lithuania's accession to the EU. Respondents also pointed out what should be the leaders informing the public about the accession to the EU process, and if on the next day a referendum on accession to the EU would be held according to what respondents would make their decision. <br><b><i>Socio-demographic characteristics</i></b>: gender, age, education, occupation, marital status, nationality, number of family members, monthly family income per one family member, place of residence, region.

The first domain only included county capitals and other cities/towns. Within each stratum primary sampling units were selected in proportion to its population. Primary sampling units in the strata of county capitals and cities/towns were streets (equivalent, not further divided). From the list of streets required amount of primary sampling units were selected using systematic random sampling.</li> <li>In the second stage, in each selected primary sampling unit in the strata of county capitals and other cities/towns 10 households were selected. The first household was selected from the table of random numbers. Villages with no streets were excluded from the sample.

In order to check the quality of interviewer's work the data collector contacted by phone 10 percent of respondents. Procedure of sampling and compliance with questionnaire instructions were verified. Logic and accuracy of filling out questionnaires were checked by the data collector's department of interviewers.

10 percent of the data were checked for questionnaire keying in quality by the data input department. Possible mistakes of coding and congruence of answers to questions in the questionnaire were additionally checked.
