<b><i>The purpose of the study</i></b>: to study Lithuanian public opinion about forest logging, economic activity, and the expansion of recreational areas in Lithuanian forests. <br> <b><i>Major investigated questions</i></b>: respondents were asked whether they agree or disagree with the statement that forest logging is a relevant problem in Lithuania. It was examined what the forest means to respondents (Biological diversity (habitats of plants and animals); Spiritual values, aesthetics, beauty; 11 in total). Respondents were asked what share of Lithuania’s forests, in their opinion, allows commercial forestry aimed at timber production, and what share of forests in protected areas, in their opinion, allows commercial forestry aimed at timber production. It was also examined to what extent respondents agree or disagree with the statement that the area of recreational forests in state forests should be increased, even if this would reduce budget revenues obtained from forests. Finally, it was examined to what extent respondents agree or disagree with the statement that the area of forests designated for nature protection in state forests should be increased, even if this would reduce budget revenues obtained from forests. <br> <b><i>Socio-demographic characteristics</i></b>: gender, age, nationality, education, income per household member per month, occupation, household size, marital status, place of residence, municipality.

Villages with no streets were excluded from the sample.

In order to check the quality of interviewer's work the data collector contacted by phone 10 percent of respondents. Procedure of sampling and compliance with questionnaire instructions were verified. Logic and accuracy of filling out questionnaires were checked by the data collector's department of interviewers.

10 percent of the data were checked for questionnaire keying in quality by the data input department. Possible mistakes of coding and congruence of answers to questions in the questionnaire were additionally checked.
