The series <b>"Survey Data > Lithuania and the European Union"</b> contains survey data that allow to study Lithuanian public opinion towards the EU, their opinions on membership in this international organization, as well as the assessment of the impact of EU membership on Lithuania’s development.

<b><i>The purpose of the study</i></b>: to identify attitudes of Lithuania's citizens towards the support of the European Union structural funds. <br><b><i>Major investigated questions</i></b>: respondents assessed sufficiency of information on the support of the EU Structural Funds for Lithuania and possible changes in their personal welfare after absorption of the EU support in Lithuania. Respondents were asked to identify Lithuania's priorities for allocation of the EU support: for rural areas and agriculture; science; environmental protection; energy; road construction and construction; education; health; new job creation or re-qualification; improvement of business environment; development of information technologies; to assess the transparency and honesty of allocation of the EU Structural support and efficiency of allocation of the EU Structural Support. Also probed was respondents' opinion on resources of information on the support of the EU Structural Funds: national and local newspapers; TV; radio; Internet; stands; workshops; various information centres; municipalities. <br> <b><i>Socio-demographic characteristics</i></b>: gender, age, education, occupation, nationality, number of family members, monthly family income per one family member, type of household, size of household, place of residence.

The first domain only included county capitals and other cities/towns. Within each stratum primary sampling units were selected in proportion to its population. Primary sampling units in the strata of county capitals and cities/towns were streets (equivalent, not further divided). From the list of streets required amount of primary sampling units were selected using systematic random sampling.</li> <li>In the second stage, in each selected primary sampling unit in the strata of county capitals and other cities/towns 10 households were selected. The first household was selected from the table of random numbers. Villages with no streets were excluded from the sample.

In order to check the quality of interviewer's work the data collector contacted by phone 10 percent of respondents. Procedure of sampling and compliance with questionnaire instructions were verified. Logic and accuracy of filling out questionnaires were checked by the data collector's department of interviewers.

10 percent of the data were checked for questionnaire keying in quality by the data input department. Possible mistakes of coding and congruence of answers to questions in the questionnaire were additionally checked.
