Description
| This dataset contains the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) statutes.
The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) is a Lithuanian political party active since 1990.
LVŽS is a historical Lithuanian political party whose origins date back to 1922, when the party’s predecessor – the Lithuanian Popular Peasants' Union (LVLS) – was established. During the first years of the restored Lithuanian state, the LVLS actively participated in political life, and after the 1926 Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) elections, it became a member of the ruling coalition. However, after the 1926 coup d'état, the activities of political parties were restricted, and in 1936 all parties were banned, with the sole exception of the Lithuanian Nationalist Union. In 1940, following the occupation of Lithuania by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, only the Lithuanian Communist Party was a legal political force. After the restoration of Lithuania’s independence in 1990, the LVLS resumed its activity on 18 August 1990 under the name Lithuanian Peasants’ Union. In 1994, it was renamed the Lithuanian Peasants Party (LVP). On 15 December 2001, following the merger of the New Democracy Party and LVP, the Peasants and New Democratic Party Union (VNDS) was established. On 10 December 2005, VNDS was renamed the Lithuanian Popular Peasants' Union (LVLS). On 14 January 2012, the party was given its current name - the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS). On January 29, 2022, the split of LVŽS occurred, when the Union of Democrats "For Lithuania" (DSVL) was established. |
