The datasets of historical statistics are a specialised collection of data archives that is mainly used by historians in their research. This collection usually consists of historical data on population size and composition, economy, trade, transport and communications, finance, social and economic relations, health and health history, social welfare, disasters (fires, war damage etc.), education, culture, state development, churches, cities etc.

Launched in 2010 the Historical Statistics Data catalogue currently contains more than 200 datasets of historical statistics. The datasets are organised into thematic collections – sub-catalogues.

Each historical statistics dataset is described (documented) in English (see Metadata: Citation Metadata, Geospatial Metadata, Social Science and Humanities Metadata) and Lithuanian (see Metadata: Citation Metadata (LT), Geospatial Metadata (LT), Social Science and Humanities Metadata (LT)).

Istorinės statistikos duomenų rinkiniai yra specializuota duomenų archyvų kolekcija, kurią savo tyrimuose dažniausiai naudoja istorikai. Šią kolekciją paprastai sudaro istoriniai duomenys apie gyventojų skaičių ir sudėtį, ūkį, prekybą, transportą ir ryšius, finansus, socialinius ir ekonominius santykius, sveikatos apsaugą ir sveikatos istoriją, socialinį gerbūvį, nelaimes (gaisrus, karų padarytus nuostolius ir pan.), švietimą, kultūrą, valstybė raidą, bažnyčias, miestus ir kt.

2010 metais pradėtame kurti Istorinės statistikos duomenų kataloge šiuo metu saugomų istorinės statistikos duomenų rinkinių skaičius viršija 200. Duomenų rinkiniai suskirstyti į teminius rinkinius – pakatalogius.

Kiekvienas istorinės statistikos duomenų rinkinys yra aprašytas (dokumentuotas) anglų (žr. Metadata: Citation Metadata, Geospatial Metadata, Social Science and Humanities Metadata) ir lietuvių kalbomis (žr. Metadata: Citation Metadata (LT), Geospatial Metadata (LT), Social Science and Humanities Metadata (LT)).
