Dataverse collection Project Implications of COVID-19 for Human Security (2020) hosts data collected in the research project "Implications of COVID-19 for Human Security: Challenges and New Opportunities", which was conducted by a team of researchers from the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences between 2020-07-01 and 2020-12-31. This research was funded by the Research Council of Lithuania (RCL) as part of the competitive program "Applied Research Projects to Develop Solutions to the Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic" (S-COV-20-26). Project leader – dr. Diana Janušauskienė.

The project builds on the post-Cold War concept of Human Security, which is based on the study of security threats to the individual in a broader threat context, with the individual as the central object of security. Contemporary threats are less and less associated with readily identifiable adversaries and people are not necessarily safe living in a secure state. One such new threat is the global pandemics of infectious diseases, the consequences of which are the subject of this project.

The aim of the project is to assess the possible positive and negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting quarantine regime on public security, with a particular focus on daily life practices, changes in employment and work activities, and the quality of democracy.

Dataverse kolekcijoje Projektas COVID-19 pasekmės visuomenės saugumui (2020 m.) publikuojami Lietuvos socialinių mokslų centro 2020-07-01 – 2020-12-31 įgyvendinto projekto „COVID-19 pasekmės visuomenės saugumui: grėsmės ir naujos galimybės“ duomenys. Projektas vykdytas kaip Lietuvos mokslo tarybos (LMT) finansuojamos konkursinės programos „Taikomųjų tyrimų, skirtų parengti sprendimus dėl COVID-19 pandemijos padarinių, projektai“ dalis (S-COV-20-26). Projekto vadovas – dr. Diana Janušauskienė.

Projektas remiasi po Šaltojo karo susiformavusia žmogaus saugumo (Human Security) koncepcija, kurios esmė – tirti individui kylančias saugumo grėsmes plačiame grėsmių kontekste, individą laikant centriniu saugumo objektu. Šiuolaikinės grėsmės vis mažiau yra siejamos su lengvai identifikuojamais priešais ir žmonės nebūtinai yra saugūs gyvendami saugioje valstybėje. Viena iš tokių naujų grėsmių yra pasaulinės užkrečiamų ligų pandemijos, kurių pasekmių analizė ir yra šio projekto tyrimo objektas.

Projekto tikslas – įvertinti galimas COVID-19 pandemijos ir dėl jos taikomo karantino režimo teigiamas ir neigiamas pasekmes visuomenės saugumui, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant kasdienio gyvenimo praktikoms, užimtumo ir darbinės veiklos pokyčiams bei demokratijos kokybei.
